Important piece of proof, useful for a case of legal battle by Colleen  Huber, a US-based follower and accomplice of Simoncini.

Rome, cured tumor with bicarbonate: doctor sentenced to 5 and a half years

Simoncini responds to culpable homicide and improper exercise of the profession for the death of Luca Olivotto, 27, affected by a brain tumor discovered in June 2012 and died four months later
January 15, 2018

He presented a miraculous cure, based on bicarbonate , to defeat the tumor. But this anticancer treatment was fatal to Luca Olivotto, the twenty-seven-year-old catanese affected by a brain tumor discovered in June 2012 and died four months later.

The inventor of the 'cure', Tullio Simoncini, already robbed of the order of doctors, was sentenced today by the monocratic tribunal of Rome to five and a half years imprisonment for manslaughter and improper practice of the profession.

Instead, two years in prison (suspended sentence) were inflicted on the radiologist Roberto Gandini who would have helped Simoncini in the arterial administration of the massive doses of the substance that he then led to the young man's death. The death of the young man, due to a cardiocirculatory arrest following a "very serious metabolic alkalosis", occurred on October 18 six years ago in a Tirana hospital where Simoncini was practicing his anticancer medical therapy.

"Today's sentence has placed a point on the painful affair of the Olivotto family, giving the hope that such practices, so lacking scientific reliability as dangerous, may cease to exist and cause other victims". The lawyers are Francesco Lauri and Giovanna Zavota, civil party on behalf of the Olivotto family in the trial against former doctor Tullio Simoncini and his collaborator.

"No one will be able to return Luca to his loved ones - the two criminals continue - but it is great satisfaction to see so harshly condemned people who, with their conduct, tarnish the professionalism of those who every day dedicate their lives to the competence and self-sacrifice care of their patients ".
