Greg Malakoff is not allowed to lie. Disaster is on its way...
« on: December 01, 2022, 06:57:48 AM »

I heard it on the grapevine: Greg Malakoff is not allowed to lie.

Well, actually, he himself says it. Although he still does not use the right words. But read between the lines:

I removed them.  Due to the new law in California that does not allow doctors to speak freely, I did not want to chance upsetting the authorities.  I was advised by legal counsel to never speak about such things.  By removing them after I learned that I should not speak my opinion because my scope of licensure does not allow me 1st amendment rights afforded to ordinary citizens, I chose this path to prove I’ve acted in good faith regarding complying with the new law.  If I am never heard from again, it was nice knowing you.  I guess I should find a new logo for the number 1.  Although this seems like real number 2.  Next week I’ll go back to my 5 series if I can find anything safe to discuss.

Greg Malakoff claims to be a doctor. But he is only a chiropractor. And even that is only  a claim.

Greg Malakoff claims to be a "Emergency Chiropractor".  But this is only a claim.

But it is much worse!

On this banner he claims to be a neurologist:

https://www.gregmalakoff.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/greg-malakoff-logo-3-short-small.jpg.webp

How on earth can he be a neurologist!? He did not study medicine.

On his banner Greg Malakoff underlines his claims by writing "board certified". Now, which board certified that Greg Malakoff is a neurologist? From my point of view Greg Malakoff is a madman. He deleted his blog posts. But the Web Archive still has some of them...

5 Things people may not realize about Chiropractic

Home » Uncategorized » 5 Things people may not realize about Chiropractic

1.     Chiropractic means done by hand and is derived from Greek.  Many people think that their back goes out.  The spinal bones don’t go out for lunch, or leave your body.  However, muscle spasm will decrease the function of the spinal joints and since 20% of your brain is going through those joints you want them to work correctly.  The joint moves the same distance regardless if it pops during the adjustment.  A patient cannot get the vectors and torque when trying to adjust themselves.  The more vectors and torque the better the adjustment.  Chiropractors do not adjust themselves because they understand that they are not going to get any benefit from it.  Whether you are hurting or not, Chiropractic decreases the risk of injuries.   The weight of a feather on a nerve can decrease it’s electrical transmission by 50%. If the spinal joints are not functioning optimally, it is more pressure than a feather.  You may think it is normal to have postural, mechanical problems but it is not normal, just common.

2.     What is a chiropractic adjustment doing.  Macro or micro trauma contracts muscles.  Chemicals become trapped in the tissues and that is known as inflammation.  That leads to adhesion’s which are visible under a microscope after 4 days.  These joints now have restricted motion.  It is important to change these processes as soon as possible.  A good chiropractic adjustment relaxes contracted muscles, allows the chemicals aka, metabolic waste to exit the area, adhesion’s are broken up, and proper joint motion is restored, which is a key part of good health.  More than 90% of the energy output of the brain is used to adapt the body to the earth’s gravitational field.   Things like not falling over is actually very important to good health for more than the obvious reason.   The more mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy is available for thinking, metabolism, and healing.   A fast stretch which is what a good chiropractor is performing fires special nerves in the muscles and joints resulting in relaxation.  Doing it slowly makes your muscles tighten up at a subconscious neurological reflex loop.  Patients expect a miracle and this is not magic.  In fact, it is normal to be sore for a few days because the inflammatory chemicals are trapped in tissue and they don’t instantly disappear.  If you took enough ibuprofen so that there were none of those chemicals you would not heal.  Inflammation is vital to healing.  That is just how we work.  A typical myth is that cracking your knuckles causes arthritis.  There are no studies to prove that.  But there are studies that prove chiropractic adjustments can reduce the amount of arthritis in spinal joints.  Decreased joint motion results in arthritis.  Chiropractic breaks up adhesion’s and re-establishes joint motion.  JMPT 2004.

3.     Posture can affect and moderate, spinal pain, headache, mood, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, sympathetic function, homeostasis, autonomic regulation, breathing and hormone production.  That is from the American Journal of Pain Management 1994.   How effective is chiropractic versus medical treatment for back pain?  Chiropractic care decreases hospital admissions 60%.  Days spent in the hospital by 59%.  Outpatient surgeries are reduced 62%.  Pharmaceutical costs are decreased 83%.  That is from JMPT, 2007.   97% of back pain seen by primary care physicians is mechanical in origin.  There is something wrong with the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue that is best fixed by hand.  Refer back to the very first sentence of this article.  These patients do not require surgery.

4.     What else are we good for?  The long list of following conditions have been reported as 70 to 90% improved with chiropractic treatment.  Allergies, Arm/Leg Pain, Arthritis, Asthma, General Back Ache, Bursitis, Chest Pain, Dizziness, Gall Bladder, Tension, Hay Fever, Headaches-Migraines, Herniated Disc, High Blood Pressure, Joint Pain, Nausea, Nervousness, Neuritis, numb extremities, Rheumatism, Sciatica, Sinusitis, Stiff Neck, Stomach ailments.  What about cost?  For the typical low back case treated in the medical model 30.3 billion dollars is spent.  4.5 billion dollars on prescriptions.  The average cost for a back pain patient in this system the cost was $1,589.  This could have lasted over a long period of time.  The average chiropractic case is about 5.2 visits.  That averages out to around $302.  95% of patients rated the care as excellent.

5.     For those of you that think your trillion dollar machine, aka your body is not in pain and therefore could not benefit from chiropractic, studies have revealed improvements in neuro-cognitive function, visual fields, visual acuity, cortisol levels,( less stress), muscle strength, and reduced general health care costs.  Range of motion improves, endorphin levels increase(that is the natural pain killing substances created by parts of our brain) increased agility, balance, power, and speed.  I stated that our body is worth a trillion dollars based upon an M.I.T. study that calculated the worth of all of the hormones your body will produce over a lifetime and if they were sold in today’s market place.  As far as safety is concerned, you are twice as likely to become disabled from physical therapy treatment.  When I saw that stat  I thought,  I’ve been doing this for 40 years and I’ve never even hurt anyone.   O.K. maybe they were in discomfort for a few minutes.   Most of my friends are chiropractors and they’ve never hurt anyone as well.  Our Malpractice insurance costs about 1% of an orthopedics and you can be sure that the insurance companies know who is hurting who.  According to the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2011, you are 60% more likely to become disabled from medical care.  Again, and this is not scientific, just my personal experience with probably over 50,000 patients by now, I haven’t disabled one of them.  About 85% received very satisfactory results.  In other words, if I had achieved those results in a hospital setting, I’d be on the news every night with headlines such as, miracle treatment discovered.

Greg Malakoff is a fraud. See his "specialties". He claims to be a neurologist. But he is NOT!

This is what he had online in June 2022:

Chiropractic Neurology

Mobile chiropractic neurologist

Chiropractic Neurology is a new specialty in the chiropractic profession. Currently, there are only 500 diplomate chiropractic neurologists in the world. Doctors who have earned their Diplomate in chiropractic neurology have taken it upon themselves to go beyond the conventional confines of chiropractic. After completing chiropractic education, chiropractic neurologists embark on an additional 2 year program that specializes in cutting-edge, neurology based, health care.

Techniques utilized by chiropractic neurologists have been shown to be helpful in the alleviation of symptoms associated with chronic disease. A more complete understanding of brain and spinal cord anatomy, physiology, and function, allows chiropractic neurologists to treat very complex cases. This neurology program is the first and only chiropractic postgraduate course of study to be awarded full accreditation with the National Commission for Certification Agencies (NCCA) a branch of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA).

A huge pile of crap, and on top of that his nonsense about "Chiropractic Neurology".

What is this "Chiropractic Neurology"? Let's look at this article. Written bei who? By a chiropractor. He confesses that the  miraculous "Chiropractic Neurology" is an invention by the chiropractors.

"Chiropractic Neurology" is NOT a part of medicine. This, of course, explains, why there are "only" 500 "diplomate chiropractic neurologists in the world". It is nothing but bullshit.

Chiropractic Functional Neurology: An Introduction
Russell W. Margach, DC*
Author information Copyright and License information Disclaimer

Functional neurology is one of many specialties within chiropractic. Postdoctoral training in neurology takes place in the course of 3 years, leading to examinations certifying the doctor of chiropractic (DC) as a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Within chiropractic neurology, there are also the subspecialty colleges of childhood developmental disorders, brain injury rehabilitation, electrodiagnostics, vestibular rehabilitation, and neurochemistry, each of which requires approximately 2 additional years of training.

Functional neurology developed within the chiropractic profession for a couple of reasons. The original premise of chiropractic was that (1) spinal misalignments called subluxations impinge spinal nerves, causing an imbalance in nerve output to the body, resulting in an unhealthy body and disease; and (2) subluxations were “removed” by spinal “adjustments.” This was one hypothesis of many on health and disease put forth in the late 19th century. Today, nearly all chiropractors use a type of spinal manual therapy known as adjustments and are among the world’s most highly trained in these skills. In addition, prescription pharmaceutical products and surgery are not therapeutic options for chiropractors; this has resulted in the development of approaches such as functional neurology.

Although modern chiropractic has set aside the notion of spinal subluxations as the cause of disease, chiropractic neurologists use spine and extremity manipulation differently to send afferent input to specific areas of the brain, taking advantage of the fact that proprioception is one of the main inputs to the brain and one of the triumvirate of balance, proprioception, and visual sensory information sources that the brain uses for primary survival. A hallmark of human evolution is that the brain has developed very sophisticated systems to know where it is in space to prevent falls, a leading cause of accidental human death. This requires continuously updated and very accurate maps of both internal and external environments. A great deal of this map localization and updating occurs through proprioception because the primary way the brain knows where its body’s parts are is through muscle spindle activity—one of many types of proprioception. Thus, the muscular system has both sensory and motor functions.

Chiropractic functional neurology uses the principles of Sherrington’s 1932 Nobel Prize–winning theory known as the central integrated state. This refers to a nerve’s ability to “fire” being the sum of all its activating and inhibiting inputs. It also relies on modern understandings of the importance of accurate visual, vestibular, proprioceptive, and cortical integration in neurodevelopment, neurotrauma, and neurodegeneration. Because many nervous system abnormalities have no ablative or organic pathology, they are termed functional lesions. It is the nonablative basis of functional lesions that can make them amenable to improvement through the unique applications of chiropractic functional neurology.

The nervous system was once considered fixed after childhood, but now we know it is capable of remarkable change. The brain and nervous system are “plastic” and can be shaped or modified by sensory, motor, or cognitive experiences where temporal- and spatial-summative neural activation can be used to rewire and reprogram the nervous system. Repetitively firing a pair of neurons produces neurotransmitters in the “talking” neuron. This increases receptor expression for that neurotransmitter on the “listening” neuron. The “listening” neuron also sends neurotrophic growth factors back to the “talking” neuron, further promoting stability of the connection. Nerve cells can also grow new connections to different neurons using synaptogenesis and can perhaps use neuronal migration to extend to more distant areas. This is how humans learn any new skill and why “practice makes perfect.”

For example, an adult with retained primitive reflexes may have developed attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder owing to impaired connectivity in the frontal lobe, such that they cannot inhibit the impulse to have their attention drawn to a distracting object. However, if inhibition of primitive reflexes can be reintegrated, even as an adult, a greater prefrontal cortical inhibition can be built that can have a positive effect on focus and attention. Another example might be someone with anxiety disorder and “migraine” resulting from inability of the eyes to maintain fixation on a target. The patient does not recognize the cause, but because putting the fovea of the retina accurately on a visual target is a primary survival skill, when the eyes cannot fixate on a target, the limbic system can become overactive because the brain recognizes that it keeps losing its visual targets. Every time the eyes jump to a target, the brain turns off vision, a phenomenon known as saccadic masking. We are literally blind in that moment. If this is happening constantly, one of the brain’s primary survival functions is impaired, and the brain knows it. At the same moment, head position- and velocity-sensing nerves in the brainstem are also turned off. Add this loss of position sense to the saccadic masking, and the limbic system can go into overdrive, resulting in high anxiety. Furthermore, the spinal postural, cephalomotor, and extraocular muscles of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) all fatigue when they are constantly activated by the eyes constantly trying to regain a target. If the VOR is constantly activated because the eyes do not hold a target, this fatigues the nerves and muscles to the point of lactic acidosis and exhaustion, and extraocular muscle fatigue is a common source of head pain. The combined result is a patient with anxiety disorder and “migraine.” These are 2 examples of functional brain lesions not necessarily caused by ablative injury or disease.

The 2 cases in this issue of the journal demonstrate the effect that functional lesions can have on the nervous system. For example, Dr Swingen’s patient deteriorated to the point where she had to forego school and return home just to be able to rest and to hopefully recuperate. Although “rest” has historically been the main approach to concussion, today, greater emphasis is placed on active treatment to help the brain recover. In this case, the patient sustained damage to brainstem neurons where integration for gaze stability and for eye movements occurs. Neuron populations that control “pulse” and “step” activities that propel the eyes to a target and then hold the eyes fixed on that target all had to be retrained using finely tuned exercises directed at very specific neuron populations in the brainstem, cerebellum, and cortex that control these activities. With graded application of vestibular and ocular motor strategies, metabolic capacity of the nerves and muscles was restored, which can be seen in the posttreatment video nystagmography (VNG). A very important point to note here is that VNG findings are thought to be permanent and, thus, the ability to show changes on VNG is quite unique and remarkable. In the end, the unique exercises that produced the VNG changes also proved to be the key in the patient’s fast recovery once the correct therapies were introduced.

In the second case, Dr Boothby follows a patient through years of integrated health care, much of which included graded therapeutics to avoid overstimulation. This eventually allowed the patient to go from needing hip replacement to having fairly normal hip function. In the course of care, Dr Boothby noted that the patient developed ratcheting head movements suggesting a “broken VOR” and so referred him to a chiropractic neurologist who provided very specific vestibular rehabilitation to rebuild metabolic capacity in the system. Because the vestibular system is integral to postural stabilization in advance of volitional movement, when the vestibular system is not functioning well, it can impair gait as well as joint motion and function, all of which are central issues in this case, with the end result being that the patient no longer needed hip replacement; again, quite remarkable.

Today, people know their blood pressure and cholesterol numbers, but how many know the speed, latency, and accuracy of their saccades? Because saccades are such an effective measure of brain function, it is prudent to use brain tests of saccades and other parameters to determine whether the brain is working well. These tests also document resolution of developmental delay, resolution of concussion from mild traumatic brain injury, or resolution of symptoms of cognitive decline with aging. All these and more have shown themselves to be amenable, in many cases, to chiropractic functional neurology.

Greg Malakoff is a nutty anti-vaxxer. He is a danger to the public.

Here is one more piece of proof. The Web Archive spidered it on 17th., February 2021:

THE WORLD IS OUT TO GET YOU. PART 7 OF MANY ABOUT MODERN HEALTH CARE.

While everyone is excited about a vaccine for Covid 19 and one will be sold, it is most likely not going to work as well as they’ll tell us.  Most people think a vaccine immunizes them for life against a disease.  Flu is a respiratory infection.  We’ve had flu vaccines for over 90 years.  They started in the 1930’s.  The Cochrane Library looked at all of the literature and it was published February 1, 2018.

It studied the effectiveness of the flu vaccine in preventing influenza in healthy adults.  It realized that you would need to give 100 flu vaccines to prevent one case of flu.  There is zero evidence that it prevents any hospitalizations or any deaths.  The vaccine was sold to Americans as preventing transmission.  The Cochrane study reveals that flu deaths were rising for Americans over 65.  That was published in AARP in October 2, 2018.

Deaths have increased dramatically from the flu since the proliferation of the vaccine for the flu.  It may prevent flu like symptoms in teenagers.  If you get the flu vaccine, it is 6 times more likely that you will transmit the flu.  You are 4.4 times more likely to get a non flu infection with the injection.  Typical upper respiratory infections that mimic the flu includes a corona virus.  A study of our soldiers discovered that when vaccinated with a flu shot, they were more likely to get a corona virus.

Instead of helping your immune system against an invasion it actually primed the immune system to receive that virus.  When or if we get a Covid 19 virus vaccine it may behave like a flu vaccine.  Then you’ll need to get a new one every year.  Young people have virtually zero chance of getting Covid 19.  We want to protect people with comorbidities, which is typically found in older populations.  Or people that smoke, have autoimmune diseases, asthma, etc.

There is no evidence that the flu vaccine protects any of these people.  China developed over 35 vaccines for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, SARS.  Their best 4 were given to ferrets.  They were whole killed virus and adenovirus vectored vaccines.  The researchers thought that the vaccines were working well on the ferrets.

The FDA does not test a vaccine by giving it to a thousand people and compare it to a control group and then send them out to be exposed to the actual illness and study what happens.   That never happens.  What they do instead is they give a bunch of people the vaccine and examine their blood for antibodies.  If you produced some, have some left after 6 months, that vaccine is getting sold.  When the ferrets were exposed to the actual virus and challenged they got horribly sick and died.  The ones that were unvaccinated did not have problems when exposed to SARS.

NIH had a scandal in the 1960’s.  They had given an experimental MERS-COV vaccine where they skipped animal studies and gave it directly to children.  When those children were exposed to the real virus they got very ill.  Two of the kids died.  In 2014 Sanofi one of the four vaccine manufacturers developed with assistance from NIH a Dengue Fever vaccine.  They noticed the same kind of pathogenic phenomena, but ignored it.  They gave that vaccine to hundreds of thousands of children in the Philippines.  They got horribly sick and about 600 died.  As of February 21,2020,  Sanofi is facing more charges in the Dengue Vaccine scandal.  There is real evidence that the vaccine caused pathogenesis, that the vaccine called Dengvaxia could cause severe illness in people who hadn’t previously been infected by the disease.  They are facing criminal charges, yet we are told to vaccinate our kids daily.

Humoral immunity which is finding antibodies in your blood does not necessarily translate into cellular immunity, which is our best defense and is under constant attack by modern medicine.  Vaccines produce two types of antibodies.  A neutralizing antibody and a binding antibody.  That antibody makes the protein spicules stickier.  It primes your body to get sick from the illness if challenged with the real virus.  Big pharma claims they are perfectly safe but demand protection against law suits.  They don’t put their own money at risk.  They are handed hundreds of millions of dollars to promote these.  They won the lottery.

There is a lot of conflict of interest and the lack  of liability means there is a lack of accountability.   The media is completely bought off so they don’t have to worry about any bad press.  In 1997 the U.S. changed the law and allowed the pharmaceutical companies to directly market to the public.  They do this through the media and most of their income comes from these advertisements.  The only other country you can see drugs advertised on T.V. is New Zealand.  This flow of money since 1997 has compromised all news coverage of health matters.

Anderson Cooper and Erin Burnett are sponsored by Pfizer.  Lester Holt is sponsored by Merck.  17 out of 20 adds in non election years are pharmaceutical advertisements.  They not only pay for advertising, but they own content.  During the flu season there is a constant drum beat of stories on the flu and how wonderful vaccines are.    The media are pharmaceutical reps.  Lester Holt once did a story where they could not find a kid with actual measles so they found a picture of a healthy baby and painted measle spots on him.  10 years ago Lester Holt would have immediately been fired.  Nothing happened to him because that is just how corrupt the whole thing is.  You’ll never see any honest reporting about any pharmaceutical issues.  They endorse the orthodoxy.

There are 80 studies on Pub Med.  Almost all of those studies state that wearing masks don’t work.  They do prevent bacterial local infections.  Covid is a virus.  Bacteria are very large compared to a virus.  They go right through the mask like air.  The mask can make you sicker.  You have a bacterial growth on the mask.  They can inhibit oxygen flow which changes your pH.  Sometimes it may work because it stops people from touching their face.  It makes my face itch and then I find myself scratching it when I normally wouldn’t be touching it.

Some studies indicated they were efficacious, but the majority said they are not of value.  Anderson Cooper and Sanjay are lying every night when they say they definitely work.  Tony Faucci does not like unpatented medicines like Hydroxychloroquine because his gang is not making any money off of that.  On July 23, 2020 Tony Faucci’s gang produced a study that said Hydroxycholoroquine was worthless.  The New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet supported that position.  That was the official orthodoxy that they supported.  A week later those studies were withdrawn for fraud.

Moderna is the lead vaccine right now.  It is an RNA vaccine and no one knows just how dangerous this technique is.  Tony Faucci has been involved with this company since 2010.  Bill Gates has poured a fortune into this company.  Faucci is one of the most powerful people in the world.  He gives away 6 billion dollars worth of grant money to scientists all over the world.  He can make or break careers.  He decides what will be researched and what will not. Tony Faucci can threaten any university with a loss of a lot of money if they do a real study that he doesn’t want done.  He can shut down science on a whim.  Even science that has nothing to do with him.

He arranged for Moderna to get a half of billion dollars.  He stands to profit greatly and that is probably why he waived animal studies for their vaccine.  They went right to human studies.  They did these studies in Bill Gate’s Seattle.  They started out with 45 people for the phase 1 studies.  15 people received a medium dose and 15 received a high dose.  These studies were to last only 45 days.  15 people that got the low dose got seriously ill.  Hospitalization was required.  They know that 6 out of 100 people are going to get seriously ill.  Giving it to 7 billion people is a lot of damaged humans.  Half a billion people could die.

3 people in the high dose group got seriously ill.  That comes to 20%.  These test subjects did not look like typical Americans.  54% of Americans have chronic disease.  The people for this study were chosen because they were in robust  health.  If they ever smoked cigarettes they were excluded from the study.  They were the picture of health.  If they had anything, they couldn’t get into the study.  Bullets couldn’t hurt these people.  20% of them were getting sick.  One of the test subjects, Ian Haydon  almost died from it.

When he recovered he told Sanjay Gupter in the green room at CNN what happened.  Sanjay warned him not to talk about that when they went on T.V. Sanjay did the opposite of what a reporter is supposed to do, but that is the culture now at CNN.  These RNA vaccines are permanently altering your cells.  Is that going to cause cancer down the road after the 45 day study?  Who knows, no one is allowed to ask.  Is it going to cause birth defects?  Other weird stuff?  Who cares, they’re going to sell us another harmful vaccine and the public has been programmed to be joyful.  Using small groups of people will make missing injuries useful when you want to sell something harmful.  If you sell a vaccine that kills one in ten thousand people, you won’t see that if the group studied was only 1,000 people.  If you give that to 7 billion people you are going to kill thousands of people.  Chances are they’ll never attribute it to the vaccine.  Anthony Faucci slipped last week and said his vaccine would only produce antibodies for 3 months.  That means you’ll have to take it 4 times per year.

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV)
5 August 2022

Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory disease caused by Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS‐CoV) that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
Typical MERS symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Pneumonia is common, but MERS patients may not always develop this condition. Gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhoea, have also been reported among MERS patients.
Approximately 35% of MERS cases reported to WHO have died.
MERS-CoV is a zoonotic virus, meaning it is transmitted between animals and people. MERS-CoV has been identified and linked to human infections in dromedary camels in several Member States in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
Human-to-human transmission is possible and has occurred predominantly among close contacts and in health care settings. Outside the health care setting, there has been limited human-to-human transmission.

QUOTE:
[*quote*]
[...]
Dengvaxia consists of an attenuated yellow fever virus that expresses genes of each of the four types of dengue virus. The Philippine FDA greenlighted the vaccine in December 2015, based on research funded by Sanofi Pasteur in which Capeding played an important role. For example, she was the first author on a 2014 paper in The Lancet detailing a study among more than 10,000 children in five Asian countries that showed Dengvaxia worked and had a good safety profile. In April 2016, the Philippine government launched a $67 million public school–based immunization program for Dengvaxia.

That alarmed some scientists, because the dengue virus is peculiar: A first infection is rarely fatal, but a second one with a different virus type can lead to much more serious disease, because of what is called antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), in which the immune response to the first virus amplifies the effect of the second type. Scott Halstead, a retired dengue expert formerly at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, argued that dengue vaccines could have the same effect, and warned that Dengvaxia should not be given to children never infected with dengue. But a vaccine panel at the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded in 2016 that Dengvaxia was safe for children aged 9 and older.

Halstead's concerns proved valid. In November 2017, Sanofi Pasteur announced that the vaccine could indeed exacerbate cases of dengue in children never previously infected, and the Philippines halted the campaign immediately. (WHO now recommends the vaccine be used only after a test to be sure children have had at least one brush with dengue.)

"they could not find a kid with actual measles"? HEY WHAT!? Why was the no child with measles? Let me guess? Because the measles had be eradicated by the vaccine? Didn't Greg Malakoff say that vaccines don't work?

On July 23, 2020 Tony Faucci’s gang produced a study that said Hydroxycholoroquine was worthless.  The New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet supported that position.  That was the official orthodoxy that they supported.  A week later those studies were withdrawn for fraud.

Fact check: Fauci's emails don't show he 'lied' about hydroxychloroquine

The claim: Emails show Dr. Anthony Fauci 'lied' about the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating COVID-19

The release of hundreds of Dr. Anthony Fauci's emails from the early days of the coronavirus pandemic has become fodder for online misinformation.

Social media users have claimed Fauci's emails contain the origins of the coronavirus (false) and show that he knew face masks were ineffective at preventing the virus's spread (missing context). Others have falsely claimed the emails, which The Washington Post and BuzzFeed News obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, were leaked.

Now, the Gateway Pundit, a conservative website that has repeatedly published false claims about COVID-19, says the emails show Fauci "lied" about a coronavirus treatment that could have saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

"Fauci Was Informed of Hydroxychloroquine Success in Early 2020 But Lied to Public Instead Despite the Science," reads the headline on a June 3 article, which has more than 8,200 shares on Facebook.

Similar claims have circulated widely among pro-Donald Trump and alternative health pages and groups on Facebook. According to CrowdTangle, a social media insights tool, posts mentioning Fauci and hydroxychloroquine have racked up tens of thousands of interactions in the days after the emails were made public.

Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, did send and receive emails about hydroxychloroquine in spring 2020. But he didn't "lie" about its effectiveness in treating COVID-19.

Fact check: Fauci didn't say half of CDC, FDA employees refused COVID-19 vaccine

Hydroxychloroquine, a drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, is not a proven treatment for COVID-19, public health officials say. Early in the pandemic, Fauci expressed interest in the drug, but he maintained that more data was needed to prove its efficacy. Fauci's emailed comments on hydroxychloroquine line up with what he said in public and the scientific consensus about the drug.

USA TODAY reached out to the Gateway Pundit for comment.
What Fauci's emails show

Several of the emails obtained by The Washington Post and BuzzFeed News mention hydroxychloroquine.

The earliest mention of hydroxychloroquine in the cache of emails dates to Feb. 24, 2020, when Fauci responded to an inquiry about using the drug to treat COVID-19.

"Is there any indication/data to substantiate this claim from China (attached publication) that chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine can decrease COVID-19 infections and lung disease?" wrote Philip Gatti, a pharmacologist for the Food and Drug Administration.

Fauci replied: "There are no data in this brief report and so I have no way of evaluating their claim. There are a lot of these types of claims going around. I would love to see their data."

It's a line that Fauci repeated often over the next several weeks, both in public and in private: Claims that hydroxychloroquine could treat COVID-19 were based on anecdotal evidence.

Early hope for hydroxychloroquine was based primarily on two small trials that suggested the drug helped patients recover from COVID-19. But other studies offered conflicting results, and randomized controlled trials – the gold standard for measuring the effectiveness of a drug or treatment – had not yet been done.

"We will know soon whether hydroxychloroquine has any beneficial effects as the results of randomized, controlled trials become available," Fauci wrote in a May 1, 2020, email.

In a press release published two weeks later, as President Donald Trump continued to tout hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment, Fauci tempered expectations for the drug ahead of a clinical trial from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Fact check: No link between India's falling COVID-19 cases and hydroxychloroquine

"Although there is anecdotal evidence that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin may benefit people with COVID-19, we need solid data from a large randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine whether this experimental treatment is safe and can improve clinical outcomes," he said in the press release, which he approved in an email April 23, 2020.

The NIH halted the clinical trial in June 2020 after data indicated hydroxychloroquine "provided no additional benefit compared to placebo control for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients." The FDA revoked its emergency use authorization for the drug around the same time, saying "the known and potential benefits of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine no longer outweigh the known and potential risks for the authorized use."

USA TODAY reached out to Fauci for additional comment.
Hydroxychloroquine isn't COVID-19 treatment

Hydroxychloroquine is not a proven treatment for COVID-19, as USA TODAY and several other independent fact-checking organizations have pointed out.

Large-scale clinical trials in several countries have found no benefit to using hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.

“The finding that hydroxychloroquine is not effective for the treatment of COVID-19 was consistent across patient subgroups and for all evaluated outcomes, including clinical status, mortality, organ failures, duration of oxygen use and hospital length of stay,” Dr. Wesley Self, trial lead and associate professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, said in a press release.

Several public health agencies caution against using the drug to treat COVID-19.

In early July, the FDA issued a summary of safety questions associated with using hydroxychloroquine to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Among them: blood and lymph system disorders, kidney injuries and liver problems.

After six clinical trials, the World Health Organization reached similar conclusions.

"Using hydroxychloroquine for prevention had little or no effect on preventing illness, hospitalization or death from COVID-19," the agency says on its website. "Taking hydroxychloroquine to prevent COVID-19 may increase the risk of diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, drowsiness and headache."
Our rating: False

The claim that emails show Fauci "lied" about the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in treating COVID-19 is FALSE, based on our research. Fauci's emails line up with what he said in public about hydroxychloroquine and the scientific consensus about the drug – that more data was needed. When later studies provided that data, it became clear hydroxychloroquine does not effectively treat COVID-19. Public health officials warn against its use in treating the disease.

Greg Malakoff:

[*/quote*]

No, Greg Malakoff, you asshole! There is no time for long animal studies. The pandemic rages and we must act fast. 8 billion lives are at stake.

[*quote*]
They did these studies in Bill Gate’s Seattle.  They started out with 45 people for the phase 1 studies.  15 people received a medium dose and 15 received a high dose.  These studies were to last only 45 days.  15 people that got the low dose got seriously ill.  Hospitalization was required.  They know that 6 out of 100 people are going to get seriously ill.  Giving it to 7 billion people is a lot of damaged humans.  Half a billion people could die.
[*/quote*]

Greg Malakoff is a piece of shit: The following article by Reuters gives a detailed report on the studies. The article is from 14th., July 2020. Greg Malakoff had more than enough time to learn about the studies.

Moderna Phase 1 results show coronavirus vaccine safe, induces immune response

By Julie Steenhuysen

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Moderna Inc's MRNA.O experimental vaccine for COVID-19 showed it was safe and provoked immune responses in all 45 healthy volunteers in an ongoing early-stage study, U.S. researchers reported on Tuesday.

Volunteers who got two doses of the vaccine had high levels of virus-killing antibodies that exceeded the average levels seen in people who had recovered from COVID-19, the team reported in the New England Journal of Medicine.

No study volunteers experienced a serious side effect, but more than half reported mild or moderate reactions such as fatigue, headache, chills, muscle aches or pain at the injection site. These were more likely to occur after the second dose and in people who got the highest dose.

Experts say a vaccine is needed to put an end to the coronavirus pandemic that has sickened millions and caused nearly 575,000 deaths worldwide.

Moderna was the first to start human testing of a vaccine for the novel coronavirus on March 16, 66 days after the genetic sequence of the virus was released.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whose researchers developed Moderna’s vaccine candidate, called the results “good news,” noting that the study found no serious adverse events and the vaccine produced “reasonably high” levels of virus-killing or neutralizing antibodies.

“If your vaccine can induce a response comparable with natural infection, that’s a winner,” Fauci said in a telephone interview. “That’s why we’re very pleased by the results.”

Moderna shares jumped more than 15% in after-hours trading on Tuesday.

The U.S. government is supporting Moderna’s vaccine with nearly half a billion dollars and has chosen it as one of the first to enter large-scale human trials. A successful vaccine could be a turning point for Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Moderna, which has never had a licensed product.

Moderna’s shot, mRNA-1273, uses ribonucleic acid (RNA) - a chemical messenger that contains instructions for making proteins. When injected into people, the vaccine instructs cells to make proteins that mimic the outer surface of the coronavirus, which the body recognizes as a foreign invader, and mounts an immune response against.

The results released Tuesday involved three doses of the vaccine, tested in groups of 15 volunteers aged 18-55 who got two shots, 28 days apart. The groups tested 25, 100 or 250 micrograms of the vaccine.

Adverse events after the second dose occurred in seven of the 13 volunteers who got the 25-microgram dose, all 15 participants who received the 100 microgram dose and all 14 who got the 250 microgram dose. In the highest-dose group, three patients had severe reactions such as fever, chills, headache or nausea. One of these had a fever of 103.28 Fahrenheit (39.6 C).

“We didn’t see any events that are characterized as serious adverse events,” said lead author Dr Lisa Jackson of Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle, referring to reactions that require hospitalization or result in death.

In June, Moderna said it selected the 100-microgram dose for its late-stage study to minimize adverse reactions.

At that dose, Moderna said the company is on track to deliver about 500 million doses per year, and possibly up to 1 billion doses per year, starting in 2021, from the company's internal U.S. manufacturing site and strategic collaboration with Swiss drugmaker Lonza LONN.S.

“It’s a good first step,” said Dr William Schaffner, a vaccine expert at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who was not involved in the study.

“There’s nothing here that would inhibit one from going ahead to the Phase 2/Phase 3 trials,” he said.

In April, Moderna expanded the Phase 1 trial to include adults over 55, who are more at risk of serious disease, with the aim of enrolling 120 volunteers. Moderna said it will follow study volunteers for a year to look for side effects and check how long immunity lasts.

Moderna started its phase 2 trial in May and expects to start a phase 3 trial on July 27.

Phase 1 trials aim to ensure a treatment is safe and help determine an effective dose. Phase 2 trials test a treatment in a larger group and get an early read on effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are conducted in a large group of individuals to confirm efficacy and identify rare side effects. Moderna’s Phase 3 trial will be conducted in 30,000 volunteers.

So the typical American has a chronic disease? And Greg Malakoff wants the tests to be made with probands who have a chronic disease? That is totally insane!

[*quote*]

He experienced a severe reaction to Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine candidate. He’s still a believer

Patients in clinical trials are usually faceless. But as the experimental Covid-19 vaccine being developed by Moderna Therapeutics has begun advancing through studies, it has found a much more visible advocate: trial volunteer Ian Haydon, a 29-year-old in Seattle.

Haydon has spoken about the vaccine on CNN and CNBC. He even said he’d volunteer to be exposed to the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, if researchers want to test to see if the vaccine was actually effective. But up until now he has left out a key detail: He is, apparently, one of three people in the trial who had a systemic adverse reaction to the vaccine.

Twelve hours after receiving his second dose, he developed a fever of more than 103 degrees, sought medical attention, and, after being released from an urgent care facility, fainted in his home. He recovered within a day.

advertisement

He has not brought up the side effects previously, he said, out of “an abundance of caution.”

“I understand that sharing the story, it’s going to be frightening to some people,” he said. “I hope that it doesn’t fuel any sort of general antagonism towards vaccines in general or towards even this vaccine.”

advertisement
Related: Despite skepticism, Gilead’s remdesivir could become a ‘multi-year commercial opportunity’

But he decided to speak now because he hopes his story counterbalances the desperation that some people feel to push a vaccine to market regardless of the consequences. Haydon points out that the whole purpose of the study he was in, known as a Phase 1 clinical trial, is to find the right dose of the vaccine going forward. That means to find a dose that causes the body to produce antibodies, but does not result in too many side effects.

“As we rush to get a vaccine developed as quickly as possible, the reality of vaccine development is that it can only be rushed so much and the trial still needs to take place,” Haydon said. “They have to move at the speed they move at. And stories like what happened to me, they matter because they shape the approval process.”

In the 45-person Moderna study, four participants experienced what are known as “Grade 3” adverse events — side effects that are severe or medically significant but not immediately life-threatening. Neither the company nor the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which is running the trial, have previously detailed the nature of those incidents, but Moderna did disclose that three, likely including Haydon, received the highest dose of the vaccine that was tested, and had reactions that involved their whole bodies. A fourth received a lower dose and had a rash at the injection site.

Such side effects are “noteworthy, but it doesn’t stop the train,” said William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine and infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The goal of studies is to establish a threshold at which something might go wrong.

With drugs, Schaffner said, patients tolerate the risk of side effects because they want to get better. “In contrast,” Schaffner said, “we give vaccines to healthy people in anticipation that they might contact the germ, the virus, down the road. But because we give them to healthy people, actually our standards for safety are higher than they are for drugs.”

In Haydon’s words: “The point of the Phase 1 trial is to look out for health problems.” He said he received great medical care, and though he felt more sick than he ever has before, he was never afraid for his long-term health. “I don’t regret the decision I made to enroll in this study.”

Haydon, a communications manager at a university, initially found out about the study, which was being run in Seattle, from a colleague who sent him a link. He, along with thousands of other people, applied. They called him 11 days after he applied.

He went to the trial site for a physical, and signed a 20-page consent form. The vaccine, it told him, could conceivably cause severe anaphylactic shock, and there was no way to predict exactly how his immune system would respond to the new vaccine. He’d looked at research on other Moderna experimental vaccines, which work via an entirely new technology that uses messenger RNA, the body’s key envoy of genetic information inside cells, and thought they seemed relatively safe. During the physical, researchers took blood; the lab work came back a week later, and he received his first dose of the vaccine on April 8.

Haydon doesn’t like needles, and was as worried about the blood draw — which uses a bigger needle — than the actual shot. He remembers waiting, and being told that the reason he was waiting was because researchers were giving doses in ascending order, and he was to receive the high dose of the vaccine. But the injection was uneventful. If his eyes were closed, he said, he would not have felt it. He was given a paper log on which to write down any symptoms, a digital thermometer, and a small ruler to measure any reactions at the injection site.

He had arm pain the next day, “like being punched in the arm,” he said, and for a day he had trouble lifting his arm at the shoulder. But within days he was back to normal.

Haydon said he was slightly nervous before the second dose. He knew that second doses were given to increase the immune system’s response, and wondered if he might have more side effects. His arm became sore much more quickly this time. He got home from the clinic at about noon. At around 10 p.m., he started to get chills. He’s normally too hot at night, but he bundled up in sweats. His fingertips felt cold. He fell asleep, but woke up a few hours later with a raging fever.

At 1:30 a.m., his temperature was 103.2 degrees. At 3:45, it was 103 degrees. He was nauseous, and his muscles hurt.

The clinic where he was vaccinated had given him a 24-hour phone number to call, but he’d been reticent. His girlfriend, with whom he lives, called. They said to go to urgent care. It was a 10-minute drive. They arrived at 5 a.m.

The doctors met him in what looked like space suits. Even though he’d had a vaccine, he was also a potential Covid patient. They took him into an exam room, took a lot of blood, and gave him a nasal swab. He asked them to avoid his left arm, where he’d gotten the vaccine, but they ended up taking blood from both of his arms. His fever had already fallen to 99.8 degrees. They gave him Tylenol. The physician taking care of him offered to try to get him admitted to a neighboring hospital, but he decided to head home.

He and his girlfriend arrived home at 7 a.m., and he slept until noon. His temperature was 101.5. He got up to go to the bathroom, and became so nauseous he threw up. On his way back from the bathroom, he fainted. His girlfriend caught him and kept his head from hitting the floor.

She then called one of the doctors working in the study, and asked what they should do. The doctor told them he could go back to urgent care, or call 911, and reminded them that all his medical costs would be covered by the study.

But he got to a couch and was given sports drinks. He spent the afternoon there, with a wet towel on his head, fighting the fever. By 9:45 p.m., it was back down to 99.1. It tapered off. He says he felt better within a few days, and has had no side effects since.

Haydon said the experience left him as sick as he’d ever felt. But standard flu-like symptoms that resolve within a day are not necessarily considered a reason not to use a vaccine that prevents a more serious illness.

Given the stakes of a Covid-19 vaccine, the side effects described in the Moderna release would likely be seen as acceptable even if they turned out to be seen in future studies. The severe effects were only seen at high doses that are not being taken forward. The other vaccine for which early data are available caused fever in almost half of recipients.

But it’s also not clear what will happen as the vaccine moves into larger studies. “Humans have a very diverse immune system,” said Larry Schlesinger, the president and CEO of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute, a nonprofit. “And then you add on top of that diabetes or, you know, age 70 and you can imagine that the immune response will be very, very different.”

The difficulty, Schlesinger said, is that right now we are only getting “tidbits” of information about the new vaccine.

“Tidbits of science are always dangerous for the public to read because they give a false understanding, or a false sense of security, that we’re making progress or not,” Schlesinger said. “And then tomorrow we hear something completely opposite. And before you know it, the credibility of the scientific process is undermined and people stop listening.”

What does he think now? “It’s just not enough information at the current time.” That’s why we need clinical trials — and volunteers like Ian Haydon.
