Cargo Cult science
Posted: November 17, 2012 by Albury Smith
I'm not sure what Paul Maroun thinks he knows about "the universal laws of physics" that 200+ NIST scientists and engineers don't, but if he's truly interested in showing us that Richard Gage's hypothesis is even slightly credible and provable, my recent comments that you inexplicably removed described a logical way to do it. W14 X 730 (14WF730) columns were used extensively in the core framing of all 3 collapsed NYC hi-rises, and I simply suggested that Richard Gage and his "experts" show us on video how their 4.91" flanges and 3.07" webs are secretly cut with explosives. If demolition explosives keep steel molten for months, produce room-temperature "pyroclastic" dust clouds that don't even burn paper, and turn concrete floor slabs completely to dust in seconds, I'd urge them to demonstrate those amazing capabilities too. Mr. Maroun's problems aren't with me; they're with science and reality.

Tavis Smiley re The House I Live In

A few days ago I saw Tavis Smiley's interview with Eugene Jarecki. It made me want to see his film The House I Live In. But, since it's not a normal film, I don't know how to figure out where it might be showing - if at all. Can someone there help me with this question? How does one find out who is showing an independent film? Thanks

We’re sorry you experienced this at the end of the program. We haven’t had any other complaints but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t anything amiss. Would you mind sharing with us how you receive your television signal (over-the-air, cable, etc.)?
Just so you know, we get the signal from MHz Networks directly over the internet for our Channel 12.3 and we don’t have control over the schedule or content.
Also, did you know that you can stream our Channel 12.3 live on your computer? In the event you see an issue it may be good to cross-check what the signal looks like there.
I know that lots of programs recently had audio and visual problems due to transmissions issues as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

Now that we're back on MST, KBDI 12.3 is broadcasting the Al Jazeera English segment (24:00GMT) which includes the "Inside Story". We lost that program while on MDT, as it's apparently not part of the 23:00GMT segment. I would prefer the former program next summer even if it requires moving the broadcast time back an hour. I regularly watch with interest Colorado Inside Out. Raj Chohan does a great job as host and moderator and I hope we'll see him in this position for a long time. However, I am not fond of the entire panel though, in fact, I find it painful at times to watch Mr. Kopel as he struggles to express himself. The "Lunacy", “dishonesty” and “Malarkey” are only Mr Smith’s, as he tries to project them on others by professing the least credible and least provable hypothesis of the deadly events of the 9/11 that changed the world as we knew it. It is a miserable attempt on his part to cover up for mega crime acting as a good accessory to it. He is not interested in seeking the truth but in hiding it. Does he want people to believe that 3 steel-and-concrete sky-scrapers blown up within seconds into fragments and dust, that turned into a “pyroclastic” flow down Lower Manhattan, were brought down with almost gravity speed within the one day by fire? How far can he go in scrapping the universal laws of physics or should I say how far can he stretch his bizarre and conspiratorial cover-up theory behind the 3 demolitions?

I watched a travel show on China the other night (the one with the young woman as host), and they showed this guy cutting off the head of a snake and dripping its blood into a drink. I couldn't believe it! That's not what I want to see on PBS (or any place else). I was really freaked out. I know China is horrible to animals. That's why I never would want to go there. But do I have to be forced to see something like this unexpectedly?! I do avoid watching gratuitous violence in movies, on TV, or anywhere. I did NOT appreciate being unwittingly subjected to this.

CPT12 Response:
Sorry for the late reply. You were probably watching Globe Trekker? This show often goes far beyond popular tourist destinations in order to give viewers a more authentic look at local culture. Presenters usually participate in different aspects of regional life, such as attending a traditional wedding, visiting a mining community, and eating and drinking local fare which may include scenes as you describe.
I imagine people from India would find leather shoes or eating beef offensive. While some types of scenes may be disturbing they are key to the depicting the true culture of the area. Different strokes, as they say.

I've always thought there had to be a "plan" to bring down the World Trade Twin Towers on 9/11. Immediately afterwards many spoke about hearing "explosions," though this has not been something highlighted or previously questioned. While the heat from the planes fully loaded with fuel had a horrendous impact, you just can't help but wonder "how" both towers came straight down. Makes me think terrorists spent a great deal of time planting explosives to finish bringing them down. I'll never forget the north tower and its extended pole coming down as if it were "sinking into quicksand." It's a sight I'll ALWAYS remember..... I'm glad this is being questioned on Public Television. Thank you!

I watched the program last night (10/26) and it will be the last time I watch it. Yet, I have faithfully watched it for many years back when Peter Boyles was host and Danni Newsome and Craig Silverman were regular panelists. I might as well watch Sean Hannity or listen to Rush Limbaugh. It is so obvious that Raj Chojan, Patty Calhoun, David Kopel and Eric Sonderman are Romney backers and Obama bashers. Show after show brings this position out. I stopped watching for a few weeks because of the campaigns and the panelists biases, but gave it one more look last night. Three of the 4 (excluding Alicia Caldwell) had an Obama campaign ad as their disgrace of the week. I don't even know what that ad is. Just the rest of their comments left no doubt they are Romney voters and backers. I am not. If I want views like their's I would watch FOX news which is not as advertised "Fair and Balanced". Neither is Colorado Inside Out. I don't watch FOX news and I will not watch Colorado Inside Out any more.

We are very frustrated that you have moved Moyers & Co to a late-night spot. Both of us looked forward to watching this important show at 9 on Fridays, after a long week of work. We also have early morning engagements most Sat. mornings, so the 11 PM option is not viable. More concerning, however, is that Moyers' insights and his guests' perspectives at a time when our democracy is under enormous threat. The show needs to be on at times that encourage viewership, rather than hiding it from view! Please restore the show to a prime time spot!

Thank you for your email and feedback. I know it can be frustrating when a favorite program is not aired at its regular time.
Colorado Public Television has been airing the Colorado Decides series during our Friday news and public affairs time block as part of our local election coverage. It is part of our mission at CPT12 to cover local issues important to the community. Unfortunately, this means that a regularly scheduled program had to be moved to make way. Program: Europe's Debt: America's Crisis? (1 comment)
This program was well put together. It was more informative about World Economy, how America is dependent on Europe's economy than any prime time media coverage. I found it very refreshing, more Americans need to watch this, rather than stuck on games, game shows, and misinformed news programs. When will it air again, and can it air on not only Denver's channel 251, but also channel 6, national networking, and on the internet?

Thank you all for allowing this footage to air! I was too young to know the specifics behind 9/11. It took me clear up until my junior year in high school to be objective with what I was told. Arthur with bleeps
Posted: October 17, 2012 by Cathy Polzin
I am very disappointed with some new version of Arthur that has been airing lately with bleeps added in place of apparently some bad word that is being said. Why on earth would a child need to know someone is using foul language and more so, why would Arthur characters be cussing. Not a good example, I sure this is not the way children programming is going. Very disappointed.

CPT12 Response:
The episode in question comes from the award-winning series Arthur and is intended to educate children about precisely the concerns you raise. While I am sorry you find yourself disappointed in the series, and therefore in us, we stand by the episode “as is” as a refreshing creative way to alert us all to the prevalence of foul language in society.
Thank you for writing in.

Ballot Amendment 65
Posted: October 14, 2012 by Name Withheld
Program: Devil's Advocate with Jon Caldara (7 comments)
This non-binding amendment 65 is more in response to a symptom caused a long time ago by a decision of the Supreme Court (in actuality, a decision written by a clerk of the Supreme Court) which gave corporations eternal person-hood. If that decision had given a 50-yr person-hood to all corporations (which was closer to the average age at which most human beings were dying at the time) it would have been fair, as then a corporation's assets would have had to go through probate just as an individual's assets do upon death. Corporations have been give a favored status playing field where they continue to amass wealth, pushing corporate agendas, political candidates, and do expect a return on their investment for helping their candidates get more advertising in front of the electorate. They advertise their candidate as they advertise their products. I believe we need to limit the amount of campaign contribution to the same number of dollars for which an entity has votes ... that is $1. Since corporations do not have the right to vote as individuals do, their campaign contribution must therefore be $0. That would end the rabid mud-slinging advertising that has come about due to a decision by the Republican loaded Supreme Court's latest campaign finance decision. Churches must be treated with the same regard to ensure separation of church and state.

Undecided voters

Program: Colorado Inside Out (18 comments)
On recent shows your panelist seemed baffeled as to why anyone is still an undecided voter for President. As media types, they have the time to be well informed on the issues and the facts pretaining. What the panelists seem to miss is that ordinary, undecided voters see aspects they value in both platforms. But since no platform or canidate is perfect, they struggle to decide what is really more important for their sitations, for example, "Choice" or the economy? But amid the avalance of claims and counter claims who can they believe? Thus they wait for something unknown to push them one way or the other. As a public service you might have the panelists reveal where they find minimally biaist facts and information they trust. Thank you, Bill Henderson

The McLaughlin Report's Eleanor Clift

Program: Mclaughlin Group (2 comments)
I endorse the comments that were posted July 24th 2012 regarding Eleanor Clift. Eleanor is constantly asserting her opinions on top of other journalists comments and for reasons I can't understand, she is habitually campaigning for Barrack Obama..(I question how really well informed she is as a citizen of this Country, let alone as a journalist.) (You would think she is somehow receiving some back in compensation.) She is the only journalist on your program who, I feel, is PERSONALLY campaigning during a broadcast news program that is supposedly held to responsible journalistic principles.

CPT12 Response:
Thank you for email.
I am sorry you find Ms. Clift so irritating but you may be confusing journalism with opinion and analysis.
The McLaughlin Report’s website policy page states in part:
“The McLaughlin Group television program is unscripted and unrehearsed. It is "live-to-tape" meaning that when the cameras start rolling they do not stop until the end of the show. The guests are invited to express their opinions and analysis. We believe that panelists with different positions across the political spectrum create insightful debate.”
Ms. Clift does have an extensive background in politics and policy and has been a panelist on The McLaughlin Group for as long as I can remember. Yes, her views do tend to track with the Democratic Party, as Pat Buchannan tends to track Republican. As stated in the TMG policy, the goal is to present different positions across the political spectrum.
To see all The McLaughlin Group members’ bio please click here.
You can contact the producers of The McLaughlin Group directly with you concerns about Ms. Clift by emailing comments@mclaughlin.com.

Why isn't Bill Moyers on Friday nights any more?
Report Comment as Inappropriate
CPT12 Response:
As part of our civic duty we feel it is important to give the community the option of viewing the Colorado Decides series - which provides a detailed examination of our local and state races and ballot issues.
For 16 years we have celebrated this presence in our schedule. In both 2008 and 2010, and most of the previous years, this meant Friday evening in primetime.
This has not gone unnoticed in the community, so much so that our own Wick Rowland was honored for exactly this initiative:
http://www.denverpost.com/television/ci_16931988 Unfortunately, when this happens – somewhat obviously – previously scheduled programming has to be moved to make way. Moyers and Company at 9:00pm with its numerous repeat airings across both CPT 12.1 and CPT12.2, made this appear to be a viable option to allow viewers other opportunities to catch the missed episode, and still offer our local and state coverage as part of our usual Friday night public affairs block.
The end result? An admittedly shifted - but still available - schedule for Moyers and Company now through the election. I sincerely apologize for the shuffle, but this is one of the many problems we face when we try to be – as our mission states - both your world view and your community voice.

News - CO Center for Assault Prevention - child safety and education
Posted: October 11, 2012 by Name Withheld
Program: Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide (3 comments)
Contact: Victoria Strong Front Range Center for Assault Prevention (FRCAP) 720.210.4801 | victoria_frcap@msn.com For Immediate Release Wednesday October 10, 2012 Far too often, children are not introduced to prevention education until after an incident has occurred. With the recent reports of children being bullied at school, abducted by a stranger or sexually abused by a trusted adult parents are searching for ways to keep their children safe. The best way we can protect our children is to teach them to self protect! If empowered through prevention education and advocacy, they do not have to become a headline. Victoria Strong, the Executive Director at the Front Range Center for Assault Prevention says “It is crucial that our children, adolescents and the adults in their lives receive assault prevention education in order to reduce their vulnerability to being hurt… before we hear about it on the news. Children and adolescents are vulnerable to assault, but they are not powerless to prevent it, they just need to know what to do!” Since 1996, The Front Range Center for Assault Prevention (FRCAP) has stood on the front lines waging war against statistics that say 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be sexually assaulted before their 18th birthday (Finkelhor, 2010) and more than 160,000 children stay home from school each day because they fear for their personal safety. (National Household Education Survey, 2010.) In sixteen years, FRCAP has reached more than 90,000 children along Colorado’s Front Range through schools and classrooms, equipping them with the tools to prevent childhood sexual assault, bully assault, and stranger abduction through the Child Assault Prevention Project. Over the years, CAP facilitators have stood in the considerable gap that exists between child abuse and the information given to children and families about how to prevent it. More than 400 abusive situations involving children who have gone through CAP have been reported in neighborhoods across the Front Range. Several attempted abductions have been thwarted by CAP graduates who instinctively knew what to do when someone they didn’t know tried to take them. CAP is an important program, initiating an important conversation. It is unfair to expect our schools to tackle such a sensitive topic given the amount of responsibility already on their shoulders. FRCAP provides experts in the field of assault prevention to provide this important, life changing information and the program is provided in many Colorado schools. CAP is a three part program involving seminars for teachers, staff and administration, parents and community members; and an in-class scripted workshop for students PreK-12 adapted by the International Center for Assault Prevention. This creates the much needed “prevention team” in our Colorado Communities. We are all responsible for the safety of our children and the time is now to ensure that no child or adolescent feels ill-equipped to handle any situation which could prove to be unsafe. For information on how to have CAP programming in your neighborhood schools or community please contact: Victoria Strong, Executive Director at Victoria@FrontRangeCAP.org or visit our website at

First responder Emergency crews will get the first opportunity to learn how to safely attend to the Haynes Sauces sensitive preparatory operation equipment in an emergency. Dr. Haynes pledged to conduct passenger and cargo air/space-transportation services from eastern Colorado as far back as 1975. In support of that prophecy Dr. Haynes received FAA air carrier certification in 1995 and is now ready to go spacelining. Because Dr. Haynes Flying Saucer is so versatile FTG does not need to be certified as a spaceports and the FAA still does not really have a department charged with the jurisdiction to regulate non-rocket powered “fully green technology” based spacecraft. Program: 9/11: Explosive Evidence - Experts Speak Out (137 comments)
Thanks for showing Explosive Evidence-Experts Speak Out. I think that bringing out the truth about 9/11 is one of the most important things we can do to save this country. Unfortunately the truth is so ugly that many Americans would rather just keep their heads buried in the sand. But when you do some research and you objectively examine the evidence it becomes very difficult to believe the government's explanation. One of my favorite 9/11 "oddities" is the black boxes at the twin towers. There should have been four of them (two per plane). Black boxes are designed to survive a plane crash. They are painted bright orange and they are practically indestructible. It is highly unlikely that all four of the boxes would just somehow disappear. Yet the government says the boxes were never found. However they did say that in the same area they found an intact passport from one of the hijackers! In my opinion the three best documentaries about 9/11 are Explosive Evidence-Experts Speak Out, In Plane Sight-Director's Cut, and Loose Change-Final Cut. All the books by David Ray Griffin are also very good.
